Description

Bilberry contains several active constituents which have been isolated from the berries and leaves including: anthocyanins, catechins, and several vitamins.

Bilberry extracts appear to offer significant benefit to the eye, since the anthocyanins have an affinity for the pigmented epithelia of the retina, where it helps strengthen the blood vessels.  Bilberry has been used historically to promote night vision.‡

The anthocyanins are considered the most important of the active components and have been shown to possess antioxidant and blood vessel strengthening  activity among other benefits.  Our Bilberry contains 25% anthocyanidins.‡
