Cannabis sativa, is an annual herb of the family Cannabaceae with a long history of use. This extract is derived from 100% U.S.-sourced agricultural hemp and extracted without solvents, using supercritical carbon dioxide. VESIsorb
® offers a unique self-assembling colloidal system to enhance absorption by promoting the ability of the hemp extract to dissolve readily in an aqueous environment. Compared to a standard MCT oil formulation, a single 25 mg dose of CBD in the VESIsorb® delivery system:
- Significantly enhances bioavailability
- Absorbs into the bloodstream 3X faster
- Increases peak plasma level 4X
In a recent randomized, double-blind crossover trial, a single oral dose of 25 mg CBD in the VESIsorb
® system led to a 4.4-fold higher peak plasma concentration (Cmax) and a 2.85-fold higher area under the curve (AUC0-8h) compared to a standard CBD formulation. Faster absorption was also demonstrated, with peak plasma levels achieved one hour after ingestion of the CBD + VESIsorb
® compared to three hours for the reference formulation.
