Description

Alpha Lipoic Acid – also known as lipoic acid, thiotic acid or ALA – is a water and fat soluble compound found in every cell in the body and helps convert glucose to energy by assisting in the digestion and conversion of carbohydrates to fuel. As a result of improving glucose and fat metabolism, ALA can be beneficial regarding healthy weight management.  Additionally, ALA can help support healthy triglyceride levels and blood glucose levels.‡

ALA is a potent antioxidant often referred to as the “universal antioxidant”. As an antioxidant, ALA can help slow down cellular damage that occurs due to exposure to free radicals, and helps to restore levels of essential vitamins such as vitamin E and vitamin C.  The antioxidant attributes of Alpha Lipoic Acid decrease the oxidative damage created by exercise-induced oxidative stress, and can support in muscle regeneration after exercise, especially when taken with creatine.‡

Alpha Lipoic Acid has been studied in Europe for beneficial effects related to neuropathic symptoms such as numbness, prickling, stabbing and burning pain, etc. that can be associated with certain neural-related situations.‡
