Astaxanthol® - 1057

Description

Astaxanthol® combines three potent nutritional ingredients: astaxanthin, Seanol®-P Ecklonia cava and borage oil. ‡

Astaxanthin is a type of carotenoid, which is a natural pigment found in a variety of foods. In particular, this beneficial pigment lends its vibrant red-orange color to foods like krill, algae and salmon and lobster.

Research shows that astaxanthin is one of the most powerful antioxidants found in nature., with a much higher ability to fight free radicals than vitamin C, vitamin E and beta-carotene.

Astaxanthin provides a unique protection to the cell membrane, due to its long chain structure and polar end groups.  These features allow it to span the bilayer membrane, increasing the cell’s resilience against oxidative stress. Astaxanthin quenches free radicals, both in the water and in the fat loving zone of the cell membrane.  This is in contrast to most other antioxidants, which work in either the inner (vitamin E and beta carotene) or outer (vitamin C) side of the cell membrane.‡

Astaxanthin also provides superior mitochondria protection that research shows is 1,000 times more effective than vitamin E against lipid peroxidation in the mitochondria, and reduces DNA damage and premature cell death caused by oxidation and plasma C-reactive oxygen. ‡

Astaxanthin is a powerful anti-inflammatory – several in-vitro and in-vivo studies show that astaxanthin strongly suppressed nuclear translocation of NFkB inflammatory cascade, which are the leading cause of most degenerative diseases. ‡
