Both preclinical and clinical studies have been performed.\n\u003cbr\u003eThe beneficial effects of Bitter Melon are exemplified in the results of a rabbit model study wherein diabetes was induced in rabbits using streptozotocin (STZ). STZ induces an increase in blood urea, serum creatinine, serum cholesterol, free fatty acids and triglycerides, lowers glycogen in liver and muscle and reduces body weight. This animal model simulates insulin dependent diabetes in humans. \n\u003cbr\u003eBitter Melon is intended to be used to supplement the diet when following programs designed to maintain blood sugar levels. There are several different kinds of Bitter Melon (Momordica charantia) throughout the world, but the Chinese Bitter Melon (K’u Gua) has proven to be the most effective and consistent in stabilizing blood sugar levels. In our Bitter Melon Extract, we use the whole plant; leaves, seeds, vine, and melon.
